The option to require Respondus Monitor is currently available by request. Please email training@hawkeslearning.com if you would like to have this feature enabled.

Checklist Before Starting

• Link your Blackboard course to a Hawkes section
• Create a WebTest in Hawkes and assign it to the linked section
• You must turn on the Require Respondus Monitor option for the WebTest under Additional Settings in Hawkes.

Add a Link to a Hawkes WebTest to a Blackboard Test

1.    Open the Blackboard course that has the Hawkes WebTest assigned using Respondus Monitor.

a.    Copy the link from the Hawkes Single Sign On tool: Go to where your Hawkes Single Sign On link is located, right-click on it, and choose "Copy link address".

b.    Save the link address so that you can use it in step 4b below.

2.    Create and name a test in Blackboard.

a.    Go to Course Tools > Tests, Surveys, and Pools. Select Tests and then Build Test.

b.    Name your test, and enter a Description and Instructions (optional).

• Recommendation: Add test Instructions explaining that this test must be taken using Respondus Lockdown Browser.
  

c. Select Submit.

3.    Select Create Question, and select the type of question you would like to use.

• We recommend selecting the Multiple Choice question type.

4.    Create the multiple choice question.

a. In the Question Title box, name the question.

b. In the Question Text box, include:

• Any relevant directions for taking the WebTest, such as:

1. Access your Hawkes account using the following link: Hawkes Single Sign On link
2. Navigate to your To-Do List in Hawkes to access the WebTest
3. Complete and submit your Hawkes WebTest
4. Close the Hawkes tab to return to the Blackboard tab
5. Answer this question, and submit the Blackboard test to finish

• The link to Hawkes

i. Use your mouse to highlight "Hawkes Single Sign On link" in Step 1 above, and press the Insert/Edit Link button in the toolbar.

ii. In the Link Path field, paste the link address that you saved from Step 1b above. From the Target menu, select "Open in a New Window (_Blank)".

iii. Press the Insert button to finish adding the link to Hawkes.

c. In the Answers area, press Remove below two of the four default answer boxes.

d. Make one answer, for example, "I have completed my test in Hawkes" and the other "I have not completed my test in Hawkes"

e. Mark "I have completed my test in Hawkes" as correct.

f. Press Submit. Then press OK in the lower-right corner.

5. Select Content in the upper left navigation area. Then select the Assessments > Test.

6. Next to "Add an Existing Test", select the test you just created. Then press Submit.

7. Edit the test options, and press Submit.

• Required: Under "TEST AVAILABILITY", select "Yes" for "Make available to students".
• Recommended: Under "TEST AVAILABILITY", select "Set Timer", and set the time limit to be at least five minutes longer than the time limit for the Hawkes WebTest.
• Recommended: Under "TEST AVAILABILITY", select "Display After" and "Display Until", and choose the same dates and times that you set for the Hawkes WebTest.

Enable Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor Within Blackboard

1. Within your Blackboard course, select Control Panel > Course Tools > Respondus LockDown Browser in the left navigation bar. This will open the Respondus Settings window.

2. Select the down arrow next to the Blackboard test you created, and select Settings.

3. Select "Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam".

4. Expand the Advanced Settings by selecting the "+" plus sign.

5. Check the box for "Allow access to specific external web domains".

6. Copy and paste the following web domains into the box:

• hawkeslearning.com
• learn.hawkeslearning.com
• lmssynctool.hawkeslearning.com
• https://support.hawkeslearning.com
• [Your specific LMS domain]
• [Your specific LMS domain] is the domain displayed when you are logged into your Blackboard account. It is everything after https:// and ends with .edu or .com. For example, in the screenshot below, the domain needed would be the highlighted portion of the URL.

7. Select "Require Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam". Adjust the startup sequence to your preference.

8. Select Save + Close. This may take a moment to process.

9. Scroll up to confirm that LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are required for the Blackboard test.
